Ingredients

  • Bagels: 6 mini bagels (or 3 regular bagels, halved)
  • Pizza Sauce: 1 cup (store-bought or homemade)
  • Cheese: 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings (let kids pick!):
    • Pepperoni slices
    • Bell peppers (sliced or diced)
    • Olives (sliced)
    • Cooked sausage or ground beef
    • Pineapple chunks
    • Mushrooms (sliced)
    • Spinach or other veggies
  • Seasoning: Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or crushed red pepper (optional)

Direction

    • Preheat the Oven:

      • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let the kids help by turning on the oven (with supervision!).
    • Prepare the Bagels:

      • Place the mini bagels cut side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. This makes for easy cleanup!
    • Spread the Sauce:

      • Using a spoon or a small ladle, let the kids spread pizza sauce on each bagel half. Encourage them to cover the whole surface, but not too much—just enough to avoid overflow!
    • Add Cheese:

      • Next, have the kids sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. They can use their hands or a measuring cup to create a cheesy layer. More cheese means more gooeyness!
    • Get Creative with Toppings:

      • This is where the fun really begins! Set out an assortment of toppings and let the kids choose their favorites. Make it a fun activity by having them create faces or patterns with the toppings.
      • Example Ideas:
        • Pepperoni eyes and bell pepper smiles.
        • A veggie rainbow using different colors of bell peppers and olives.
        • Mini pizzas themed around their favorite characters or animals.
    • Season to Taste:

      • If you’re using seasonings, let the kids sprinkle a little Italian seasoning or garlic powder on top of their creations for extra flavor.
    • Bake:

      • Carefully place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
    • Cool & Serve:

      • Once done, take the baking sheet out of the oven (adults should do this part). Let the mini pizza bagels cool for a minute before serving. They’ll be super hot!

Additional Tips:

      • Make It a Meal: Serve the mini pizza bagels with a side of carrot sticks, cucumber slices, or a simple salad to make it a balanced meal.
      • Customize Sauces: Try different sauces like BBQ sauce, pesto, or Alfredo for a unique twist.
      • Make It a Party: If you have friends over, set up a mini pizza-making station. Let each child create their own personal pizza, making it a fun group activity.
      • Leftover Pizza: Store any leftover mini bagels in an airtight container in the fridge. They can be reheated in the oven or microwave for a quick snack.
