Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila (preferably blanco or silver)
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (such as Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Grand Marnier)
  • 2 oz fresh pineapple juice (or blended fresh pineapple)
  • 1 oz lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (optional, depending on your sweetness preference)
  • Salt (for rimming the glass, optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple slice or wedge (for garnish)
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)

Direction

1. Prepare the Glass:

  • Rim the Glass (Optional): Start by preparing your glass. Pour a small amount of salt onto a plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass to wet it, then dip the rim into the salt, making sure it’s coated evenly. This adds an extra layer of flavor and texture to your cocktail, but you can skip this step if you prefer your margarita without salt.

2. Combine Ingredients:

  • In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of orange liqueur, 2 oz of fresh pineapple juice (or fresh pineapple blended until smooth), 1 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1/2 oz of simple syrup (if desired). The simple syrup adds sweetness, but you may not need it if your pineapple is sweet enough.

3. Shake the Margarita:

  • Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. You want the mixture to be well chilled and fully combined.

4. Strain and Serve:

  • Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can double strain the cocktail by using a fine mesh strainer to remove any pineapple pulp.

5. Garnish and Enjoy:

  • Garnish with a pineapple slice or wedge on the rim of the glass and a lime wedge for an extra burst of color and citrus. Optionally, you can also add a small mint sprig or even a few pineapple leaves for a tropical touch.

6. Serve Immediately:

  • Serve the cocktail immediately and enjoy the refreshing tropical flavors.
